Mardi Gras Bag:
Fabric: Kaufman Celebrations Collection. 100% Cotton. This is a true “bucket” purse with no top closures.
Embellishment:
1) Fusing – Masks are fused to the front and back of the purse with SteamaSeam2. Feathers and star glitter were glued in place to enhance the masks. Edges of the masks were then finished with rhinestones. (Glue on, not hot fix).
2) Couching – sequin strings were applied to the front and back.
3) Purchased trim was used to decorate the upper edge of the purse. The “ugly” edge of the trim was covered with a double strand of sequins.
4) The handles are braided tubes of Kona cotton sewn into the seam of the top edge of the purse.

Denim Bag:
Fabric: Polyester Cotton Denim. For purses, the less expensive denim (the lighter weight) is easier to work with. This is a true “bucket” purse with no top closures.
Embellishment:
1) Embroidery – sorry, this design is no longer available. The website just disappeared from the web. Any day of the week design is well suited for this design.
2) Ribbon – Any ribbon that compliments your design.
3) Faux-chenille – There are three layers of faux-chenille that are sewn and then brushed. Faux-chenille may be purchased at http://www.fauxchenille.com/. Nannette Holmberg frequently appears on the PBS show “America Sews” with Sue Hausman.
4) The purse handles are purchased. I used a polka dot print to match my ribbon to make tubes that are twice the length of the handle. They are slid over the handle and tacked in place.
5) A purchased feather boa was used to decorate the upper edge of the purse.
